Who is Facilities Planning and Mangement

Facilities Planning and Management is committed to providing facility services to assure cultural and educational opportunities are delivered to the region and which complement the tradition of distinguished teaching in undergraduate programs. In doing so, the unit strives to be a model of excellence for comprehensive state institutions of its kind in delivering effective and efficient services to the Eastern Illinois University Community.

Directors and Associate Directors

Gary D. Reed, PE, CEM, Director
	Prior to joining EIU, Gary Reed’s experience included municipal construction, power construction, generation and operations. He spent 12 years holding various power production engineering and management positions with a major utility in the mid-west. Gary joined Eastern Illinois University’s Facilities Planning and Management department in 1989. He served as Superintendent of Utilities for 14 years, and has served as the Director of Facilities Planning and Management since 2003. Mr. Reed received a B.S.C.E. from the University of Illinois, is a Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois, a member of APPA, ASHRAE, AEE and is a Certified Energy Manager.
Stephen A Shrake, AIA , Associate Director Design and Construction
	Prior to joining EIU, Steve had been involved in the architectural profession since 1971 in Champaign, IL and Mattoon, IL. Steve joined Eastern Illinois University’s Facilities Planning and Management in 1994 serving as ADA Coordinator and Campus Architect. In 2000 he became Associate Director for Design and Construction where he manages all construction and renovation projects whether performed by in-house crafts or outside design consultants and contractors. Steve is a licensed architect in Illinois and a member of AIA, APPA, and is EIU’s representative for the International Code Council.
Chris Childress, Associate Director FPM Business Services
	Chris Childress, Associate Director Budget & Accounts, Facilities Planning & Management Chris has been at EIU since 1990. She transferred from the Business Office to Facilities Planning & Management in 2006. Chris is a native of Charleston and graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
Dave Crockett, Associate Director Maintenance and Operations
	Dave Crockett, Associate Director of Maintenance and Operations, Facilities Planning, & Management, Dave started with EIU as an Associate Director in October of 2006 with over 30 years of industrial experience in numerous technical and managerial positions. Preceding his employment at EIU, Dave spent nearly 27 years at RR Donnelley in various roles including Pressroom, Preliminary, and Quality Manager, Plant Continuous Improvement Manager (PVR, 5’s, Six Sigma, TPM, ISO, etc.) along with a number of multi department supervisory or leadership experiences including Pressroom Productivity and Maintenance Supervisor, Engineering Supervisor, Plant EHS Supervision, Information Technology supervision, Division Y2K Project Management, and Project Engineering. Dave has a B.S. degree from EIU and lives in his home town of Sullivan, Illinois.
John L. Sigler, MS ED, Associate Director of Support Services
	John Sigler is Associate Director of Support Services and has worked at Eastern for 18 years. He has worked in several different areas: Building Service Workers, Moving Crew, Special Events Setup, and Enterprise Services. Support Services encompasses several departments: Building Services Workers, FPM IT Coordinator, Property Management and Special Events Setup, Service Enterprises, and Space Inventory. John received degrees from Eastern Illinois University in 1996 a Masters of Science in Education degree and in 1984 a Bachelors of Arts degree in Political Science.
