The EIU Dancers, a University recognized organization sponsored by the Kinesiology and Sports Studies Department, will hold auditions for 2009-2010 membership on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 7:00 PM in the McAfee dance studio. Anyone interested in auditioning should pick up an application form in McAfee room 1110 (downstairs north) and return it before the scheduled audition. Men and women are encouraged to participate. Applications will be available the second week of the fall semester.
Tuesday's auditions will consist of warm-ups, basic loco-motor movements across the floor, such as walk, run, chasse, and leap, and two short choreographed combinations, one ballet and the other jazz, so come prepared to dance. Since street shoes are not allowed on the dance floor be prepared to dance barefoot or you may bring dance shoes. It will be very hot so it is recommended to bring bottled water.
Dancers who make call backs are asked to come that Thursday to show a choreographed minute of what dance style they do best, whether it be ballet, tap, jazz, etc. The decision of who made the group is posted that night.
Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 9 PM. Work will be started immediately on the annual spring concert featuring modern dance, ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, and character pieces.
