MINOR IN ANTHROPOLOGY

The minor in Anthropology requires just 21 hours of coursework. All students are required to take introduction to Anthropology but then may select from a wide variety of anthropology electives that interest them (see below). Students also have the option of taking two interdisciplinary courses outside of  anthropology to complete a minor.

  • World Archaeology
  • The Anthropology of Religion
  • The Body in Anthropological Perspective
  • Human Evolution
  • Hunters and Gatherers
  • Language and Culture
  • Native North American Cultures
  • The Anthropology of Europe

Student Opportunities

Anthropology students at EIU build their personal and professional skills by conducting field research all over the world, volunteering their time in service to the local and global community, and presenting their work at regional and national anthropology conferences. Two student-run organizations, Sociology-Anthropology Club and Lambda Alpha, are open to all students interested in sociology and anthropology.
