Come out to EIU's annual MLK Jr. Day of Service and make a difference in your local community! The annual event honors Dr. King’s legacy and is an opportunity for Americans to renew their own personal vows of citizenship through service to others. MLK Jr. Day of Service is a national commitment to service and our community!
This year we are excited to also include a short educational presentation during our service project time presented by Dr. Jay Bickford, Department of Teaching, Learning, & Foundations, who will discuss how racism is depicted in modern curriculum.
To help keep everyone safe, we will be offering 2 sessions.
Session 1: 1-2:30pm
Session 2: 3-4:30pm
Everyone can sign up by clicking here! Volunteers will not need to choose a specific project as all volunteers will work together on various projects.
Virtual Option: If you want to volunteer, but don't feel comfortable gathering in a larger group, please sign up here and will will setup a time for you to pick up the project supplies and complete the project at home. Thank you for your willingness to still give back!
If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Civic Engagement and Volunteerism office at 217-581-3967 or email us.
