Mindfulness is the intentional practice of paying attention to the present moment with openness, curiosity, and without judgment. It involves noticing thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, and the surrounding environment as they arise, allowing individuals to respond to experiences with awareness rather than reacting automatically. At a university level, mindfulness supports focus, emotional regulation, and resilience, helping students, faculty, staff, and the community navigate challenges, enhance learning, and foster greater connection and well-being.
