CENCERE is an innovative approach to energy research and education.
Committed to the development of clean, sustainable energy sources, CENCERE partners with a cross-disciplinary team engaged in catalyzing new initiatives in energy research and education.
Within the 5000-square-foot CENCERE facility, students conduct hands-on research on sources suitable for renewable energy development. Students in the Department of Center for Clean Energy Research and Education (CENCERE) are able to engage in research early in their college career, which results in meaningful research and outcomes, participation in professional conferences, and publications, thus preparing them to move into their selective fields upon degree completion.
Our students have a broad variety of paid and non-paid, unique and traditional internship opportunities available to them. While our students continue to intern at local sites such as Fox Ridge State Park, Douglas-Hart Nature Center and Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, newer partnerships and internship opportunities include participation and training in research at the City of Charleston Waste Water Treatment Plant and the Dr. Gordon Grado Pre-Medicine Internship Program.
An infrastructure to create and provide opportunities for faculty, students and staff engaged in the study of clean energy.
