David Herold | Prosecution | Defense | Verdict |
April 14, 1865 | The Conspirators
The greatest evidence against David Herold is that he was found with John Wilkes Booth, the man who assassinated President Lincoln. Herold, faced with certain death, surrendered to authorities on April 26, 1865 at the Garrett farm near Port Royal, Virginia. Herold also accompanied Lewis Powell (Payne) to Secretary of War William Seward's home.
