The University is committed to community engagement and seeks to facilitate expanded volunteerism. Qualifying service leave include "hands on" participation in an off-campus community service project led by a local government agency or a not-for-profit agency.
Civil Service, Administrative and Professional full-time employees with at least one (1) year of service at the University will be eligible to receive up to one paid day of service leave (7.5 hours) per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30) during normal University business hours (Monday through Friday) per fiscal year and the leave cannot be deployed over multiple days. Community Service Leave cannot be used to establish flex time. The leave expires on June 30th each year, cannot be carried forward to the next fiscal year, and is non-compensable upon separation from the University. Employees covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement should refer to their agreements for eligibility.
Employees are required to obtain prior supervisor approval and register the service activity with the Office of Leadership & Engagement prior to the scheduled leave date.
