Founded in 1895, Eastern has a long-standing tradition of excellent instruction at an affordable cost. For the 10th consecutive year, Eastern has been named one of the top Midwestern public universities in its class by U.S. News & World Report. In addition, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine ranked EIU among the top 100 public colleges and universities “where students can graduate with a high-caliber education but without a mortgage-size debt.”
Financial aid continues to play a primary role in keeping an education at Eastern affordable. During the last academic year, over $100 million was awarded in assistance to students. This includes grants, scholarships, work-study jobs, and loans.
