Web Developer (Information Technology Technical Associate)

Description: Eastern Illinois University’s Web Office is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Web Developer. This position will work in a collaborative environment with other developers, designers, and copywriters to develop engaging and innovative websites. Responsibilities include designing, developing and maintaining secure dynamic web applications; interfacing web applications with EIU’s ERP (Banner); establishing and monitoring web programming standards for the university; and providing support and training for EIU’s content management system. This position is open to Illinois residents with two years of work experience in an IT-related profession or college coursework in Information Technology (IT), IT Management, or a closely-related discipline. 60 semester hours or Associate’s Degree equals one year; 90-120 semester hours or Bachelor’s Degree equals two years.

Additional requirements include one years experience developing dynamic sites with php or asp or perl or ruby or python; one year experience writing xhtml/css; and one years experience working with database systems (mysql or oracle or MS SQL server) in relation to web development. Candidates who qualify for an on-campus interview will be asked to provide an online portfolio. Qualified candidates will be scheduled to take a Civil Service Examination.
