GIVING… MADE EASY

Convenience is key for our generous donors. Perhaps you prefer the ease of a payroll deduction or online giving, but maybe chatting about your gift directly with a director of development is more appealing. No matter what, we're here to make the process easy for you. Contact University Advancement at 217-581-3313 or email any one of our staff members.

GIVE ONLINE

Five minutes and an Internet connection are all it takes to give a gift to EIU. Our secure site provides numerous giving options; you can donate to a specific program, or allow the university to direct your gift as it is needed most.

If you are making your contribution by credit card, you can help the Foundation cover the 2 percent credit card processing fee by making a voluntary, additional 2 percent contribution.

GIFT PLANNING

When it comes to helping Eastern Illinois University prepare students to accomplish their life goals through a great combination of quality academics and personal relationships, you can choose from many giving options besides simply writing a check. Whether you want to support our mission today or design a plan that benefits our students, faculty and programs after your lifetime, you can feel good knowing that you are shaping the future of Eastern Illinois University.

ELECTRONIC FUNDS TRANSFER

Through EFT, you can spread the cost of your annual support over the course of time by authorizing your bank to transfer to Eastern a predetermined monthly amount — it's as easy as printing and completing this form, and puts your gift to work right away!

EIU EMPLOYEE PAYROLL DEDUCTIONS

EIU employees may contribute through payroll deduction by contacting Foundation Accounting for a payroll deduction form. Completed forms should be sent to Foundation Accounting at 1137 Old Main. If you have further questions, please contact Tisha Fritts at trfritts@eiu.edu or 217-581-6455.

WRITE A CHECK

Those wishing to make a gift in the form of a business or personal check can make it payable to the Eastern Illinois University Foundation. Please indicate on the memo line how you would like your gift to be used.

Checks can be mailed to the following address:

EIU Foundation

THE PERSONAL TOUCH

We are happy to discuss giving opportunities with donors directly. Contact University Advancement at 217-581-3313 or email any one of our staff members.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the difference between restricted and unrestricted gifts?
An unrestricted gift is given to the university without any restrictions on its use, enabling the president of the university to place the contribution where the most critical need exists. Restricted gifts are earmarked by the donor for a specific college, department, program or purpose.

You want your gift to go where the need is the greatest. How is this done?
When you make your gift, indicate in a note or on the memo line of your check to "apply the funds where needed most."

What is a matching gift?
Some employers match charitable gifts made by their employees. The employees obtain a matching gift form from their company HR department and mail it in with their gift to EIU. EIU then verifies the gift for the employer and works with them to complete the gift transaction. Most employers match on a 1:1 ratio; however, some employers match on a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio, usually up to a certain limit they establish. For example, if the employee makes a gift of $500 to Booth Library and the company matches 2:1, then Booth Library will receive $1500 ($500 from the employee, $1000 from the employer).

Do matching gift companies match gifts to athletics?
A number of matching gift companies match gifts regardless of donor designation. However, there are some companies that will only match a gift to athletics if the gift is designated for an athletic scholarship fund. Some companies will not match a gift designated for any type of athletic fund.
