The University is required by federal and state laws to follow certain procedures prior to releasing student and employee information. Therefore, all subpoenas must be reviewed by the Office of General Counsel, 2102 Blair Hall, ph. 581-7249, fax 581-7989.
When you receive a subpoena it is important that you:
- Contact the Office of General Counsel and supply a copy of the subpoena. The request will be reviewed to ensure it is lawful and a determination will be made as to whether and in what manner the University will comply;
- Refer all outside attorneys to the Office of General Counsel; and
- Retain all original documents and do not deliver copies to anyone unless instructed by the General Counsel.
