Novelist Tim O'Brien, author of The Things They Carried and many other novels and stories, including most recently July, July, will give a lecture and reading on Friday November 6 at 7 p.m. in the Black Box in Doudna Fine Arts Center on the campus of Eastern Illinois University.  A complete schedule for this year's symposium may be found here. A book signing will follow.  O'Brien's lecture and reading are part of the James Jones Lecture Series, established in 2007 by the EIU College of Arts & Humanities, the department of English, and the department of History, in conjunction with the James Jones Literary Society, in support of the establishment of the James Jones Chair in World War II Studies in English and History at EIU.
