Overview

EIU's Online Psychology B.A. Degree Completion Program is designed for transfer students and returning adults who want a respected bachelor's degree without putting work, family or other responsibilities on hold. It is best suited to students who have completed an associate degree or substantial college credit. Admission to the online option requires at least 42 semester hours of college credit, and students who transfer about 60 hours can typically complete the remaining degree requirements in four full-time semesters. You may also move at a pace that better fits your life.

The online option follows the same 36-39 hour psychology major as the on-campus program, and your diploma and transcript simply identify your degree as a B.A. in Psychology. Coursework examines personality, psychological disorders, social behavior, biological psychology, cognition, learning, memory and human development. Statistics, research methods and a senior capstone teach you to evaluate evidence, work with data and communicate psychological ideas clearly and ethically.

Online does not mean on your own. Faculty hold regular office hours and are available by email or phone, while an assigned advisor helps you understand transfer credit and plan a realistic path to graduation. You can also arrange a supervised internship with an agency, school or organization in your local community. EIU's combination of flexibility, faculty access and a scientifically grounded curriculum makes this a practical way to finish what you started and prepare for graduate study or people-centered work in human services, business, healthcare, education, criminal justice and other fields.
