INTRODUCTION

I am licensed as a Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the State of Illinois. After earning an Associate in Arts from Lakeland College and Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Eastern Illinois University, I worked primarily overnight as a mental health Crisis Clinician for Lifelinks/The Regional Behavioral Health Network, responding to individuals experiencing crises within emergency departments, homes, and via crisis hotline.

I later earned a Master of Science degree in Clinical & Community Mental Health Psychology from Western Illinois University, where I worked in the WIU Psychology Clinic under Dr. Tracy Cruise, and received training & practicum in several approaches to psychotherapy and psychological assessment throughout my coursework at WIU. I have since practiced individual and group therapy in rural community mental health center and outpatient clinic settings. 

I think humanistic, existential, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness-based approaches to therapy are interesting and helpful for understanding and navigating life’s challenges, as well as for recognizing the strengths and qualities each of us already possess. I believe these strengths and challenges are at once unique to each of us and universal in all of us.

While I have primarily worked in clinical settings and have not engaged in formal labwork, I am interested in these research areas.

  • Impacts of internet, digital media, smartphones, and media consumption on cognition & emotional wellbeing.
  • Use of mindfulness & acceptance-based therapies.
  • Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy.
  • Five Factor Model of Personality and relation to categorical-dimensional model of personality pathology.

I love music.

My favorite artists are Animal Collective, Panda Bear, Mac DeMarco, The Beach Boys, Radiohead, Muse (The early stuff), The Strokes, Paul McCartney (RAM in particular), Paul Simon, The Symposium, Jack Stauber, Colour Revolt, and more.

Nature's great. Get out and see Illinois!

Fox Ridge, Shawnee, Starved Rock, Allerton Park; There's a lot to see.

I like competitive/cooperative games.

Some of my favorites are: Arc Raiders, Dead by Daylight, World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Apex Legends, more recently I've really liked Deadlock. Pinball is really cool, and I wish there were more locations in the area. My favorites are Theatre of Magic and Godzilla.
