Graduated from Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois with a B.A. in Biology.  Attained a M.A. from Illinois State University in Adapted Physical Education.  Obtained a Ph.D., from Texas A&M University in Recreation Resources Development, with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation / Experiential Adventure Therapy.  Worked from 1988 to 1994 as an Instructor for Hurricane Island Outward Bound School, instructing ÒYouth-at-RiskÓ, inclusion-focus, and instructor and professional development courses.  Currently an Associate Professor, employed at Eastern Illinois University since January 1, 1997.
