Sport Management Concentration
Sport management is a multifaceted domain offering
diverse employment opportunities in a wide range of sport, fitness, and
recreation organizations.
The undergraduate concentration in sport management is designed to help
students develop a foundational understanding and comprehension of
management concepts and principles essential to organizational success
in the sport and fitness industry. Students take a core of courses in
the Department of Kinesiology and Sports Studies, while also completing
a minor in business management from the Lumpkin College of Business and Applied Sciences.
The culminating experience is the completion of a for-credit internship
with a sport organization that meets the interests and career goals of
the student. The completion of the internship provides an invaluable,
experiential learning opportunity for the student, where theories and
principles learned in the classroom can be practically applied in
real-world employment situation.
