Overview
The Traditional Prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at Eastern Illinois University is a four-year, on-campus program that prepares students for careers as registered nurses. Students build a strong foundation in the sciences while developing the clinical judgment, communication, and critical thinking skills needed to provide high-quality nursing care. The program is ideal for students who enjoy science, working with people, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Students complete prerequisite coursework before applying to the professional nursing program. Once admitted, they progress through the curriculum as part of a supportive cohort, gaining hands-on experience through laboratory instruction, high-fidelity simulation, and supervised clinical rotations with regional healthcare partners.
EIU's nursing program combines personalized instruction from dedicated faculty, small class sizes, and extensive clinical experiences to prepare graduates for success on the NCLEX-RN licensure examination and a rewarding career in nursing.
