You can prepare for a career as an information systems professional by majoring in management information systems (MIS). The MIS major combines background study in business with more in-depth study of computer technology and information systems including programming, information systems theory, systems analysis, databases, and telecommunication.
EIU's School of Business is student-centered and fosters relationship-driven learning between students and faculty. MIS students in the School of Business can reach their potential through a variety of learning experiences, both in and out of the classroom. MIS program is a STEM eligible degree program (CIP code 11.0199). The STEM designation allows eligible international students on F-1 visas access to an Optional Practical Training (OPT) extension, up to 36 months, as compared to 12 months for non-STEM degrees. This additional time period may help you gain additional real-world skills and experience in the U.S.
