Do you love technology? Are you logical and analytical? Do you enjoy solving problems? Would you like to help businesses and other organizations manage their information? Then you should consider a major and career in computer information systems.
You can prepare for a career as an information systems professional by majoring in management information systems (MIS). The MIS major combines background study in business with more in-depth study of computer technology and information systems including programming, information systems theory, systems analysis, databases, and telecommunication.
EIU's School of Business is student-centered and fosters relationship-driven learning between students and faculty. MIS students in the School of Business can reach their potential through a variety of learning experiences, both in and out of the classroom. All MIS and business classes are taught by faculty members — not graduate students — using collaborative and project-based learning as well as more traditional teaching methods. MIS students have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills through numerous extracurricular and co-curricular activities such as:
Award-winning student business organizations, including the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP); internships; off-campus seminar series; executive in residence program.
