Overview

The English major with an emphasis in Literary and Cultural Studies is a great major for students who love literature and wish to deepen their understanding of literary art, culture, and what it means to be human. It's a great major for students who are preparing for graduate study in library science school, law school, or graduate school in English. 

Literary and Cultural Studies also pairs well with other subjects that investigate culture and society, like History, Philosophy, and more.

Faculty who teach our literary studies classes hold PhDs and are active literary scholars. Students in the major take classes with them in reasonably small groups, so that discussions are deep, rich, and inclusive.
