INTRODUCTION

Dr. Carwell (Ph.D. Kentucky) teaches courses in Third World politics and ideologies, political modernization, international terrorism and American government. He conducts research on Caribbean politics, politics and development in the developing world, and labor union/political party relationships.

Dr. Carwell has recently published essays on the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the Commonwealth Caribbean, and Cheddi Jagan—the former President of Guyana. His current research examines French, Dutch and European perspectives on minority populations in Europe, focusing primarily on European political views of Islamic minorities.
