INTRODUCTION

Andrea Frakes Pope has performed as a recitalist and soloist throughout central Illinois, Kansas City and Washington D.C. She performed as guest soloist with the Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra, singing Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder and Symphony No. 4. She performed in the First Baptist Church Recital (Decatur, IL), Grace and Holy Trinity Summer Sings Series (Kansas City, MO), and Hillside Arts Fellowship Concert Series (Kansas City, MO). She is also a regular performer with the Decatur Municipal Band and Decatur Big Band, as well as one of the singers in the Decatur based coverband Rock of Ages.

Andrea’s opera credits include Menotti’s The Medium (Madame Flora), Menotti’s Old Maid and the Thief (Miss Todd), and Humperdinck’s Hänsel and Gretel (Witch). Her oratorio work includes alto soloist for William Mathias’ Lux Aeterna (Washington D.C.), alto soloist for Mozart’s Requiem (Alexandria, VA and Charleston, IL), as well as alto soloist for Handel’s Messiah.

Andrea holds a Master’s in vocal music performance from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, where she studied with Patricia Miller. Her Bachelor’s in vocal performance is from Millikin University.

Andrea teaches voice and related classes at EIU. She was director of EIU’s production of Gianni Schicchi and musical director for EIU's productions of The Secret GardenNext to Normal and 9 to 5.
