Susan Teicher, Associate Professor of Piano and Keyboard Division Director at Eastern Illinois University, has performed widely as soloist and chamber musician in the US and Australia.  She gave her New York debut recital, sponsored by Artists International Presentations, at Carnegie Recital Hall in 1979, followed by two subsequent recitals there in 1980 and 1981.  A review of her work in The New York Times called her “a formidable talent”.  She has played chamber music with Joel Krosnick, cellist of the Juilliard Quartet, and Larry Dutton, violist of the Emerson Quartet, as well as accompanying instrumentalists and vocalists.  While in residence in Sydney, Professor Teicher served as orchestral pianist for the Sydney Symphony, and was a frequent performer with contemporary music ensembles. 
 
Susan Teicher grew up in New York City in a family of musicians.  Her father, Louis Teicher, was half of the two piano team, Ferrante and Teicher, and her mother, Elaine is a violinist. In addition to performing on many of her father’s recordings, in recent years, she has performed the two piano repertoire of her father’s, both with orchestra as well as performances with just the two pianos. 
 
Susan Teicher has taught at Eastern Illinois University since 1997. For many years she directed the chamber music series at the Tarble Center on campus. Other teaching positions include the University of Illinois and the Sydney Conservatory.   Many of her students at Eastern have performed concertos with the school orchestra, and participate in state and regional competitions.  She has served as an adjudicator in numerous competitions and festivals.  Recent activities include hosting the 2010 ISMTA conference at Eastern, collaborating on a CD recording of a new commissioned chamber work, and performing on the faculty chamber series.  Chamber music has always been, and continues to be a primary passion.
