Dr. Jeremy McBain

INTRODUCTION

Jeremy McBain joined the faculty in Fall 2011 as Instructor of Music. He has taught courses at EIU in Music Theory and General Education and he performs in the Faculty Brass Quintet.  He has held trumpet faculty positions at Millikin University, Saint Mary’s College (IN), and San Jacinto College (TX).  Jeremy is also an active freelance trumpeter, performing as a frequent soloist with the Baroque Artists of Champaign and as principal trumpet of the Danville (IL) Symphony.  He has also performed with the Peoria Symphony, Millikin-Decatur Symphony, Bach Society of Houston, Sinfonia da Camera (IL), Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, Heartland Festival Orchestra, Michigan Chamber Brass, and the State Symphony Orchestra of Mexico, among others.  Jeremy has performed under the baton of John Rutter, Carl St. Clair, H. Robert Reynolds, Rossen Milanov, and shared the stage with Doc Severinsen, Byron Stripling, John Clayton, and the late Michael Brecker. 

Jeremy earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Houston and his Master of Music in Trumpet Performance from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  He recently completed his Doctor of Musical Arts in Trumpet Performance and Literature at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  Jeremy enjoys freshwater fishing, biking, and his newfound hobby of running.
