Christopher Hanlon has been a member of the English Department faculty since 2001. His writings on antebellum literature and culture focus on patterns of transatlantic kinship, sectional politics, communications technology and literature, and eloquence. His critical essays have appeared in the New York TimesAmerican Literature, American Literary History, New Literary History, Pedagogy, College Literature, Exquisite Corpse, and Jouvert, and his book, America's England: Antebellum Literature and Atlantic Sectionalism, was published by Oxford in 2013. Hanlon teaches courses in American and transatlantic literature of the nineteenth century, New England literature, southern literature, criticism, writing, and various general education courses in literature.
