Georgia O'Keeffe's Culture and Times
Georgia was very determined to find natural
beauty even with a rock or a rattlesnakes tail. She use to take walks every
day in New Mexico and kill rattlesnakes just by sneaking up on them. She
would grab it, kill it, and then keep the tails. She would put them in
a bowl to paint. Alfred Stieglitz asked Georgia to come to New York and
he would make her a lot of money by selling her paintings. In the 1920's
it was hard for women to get any attention. People would start to see that
she was one of the greatest, but they couldn't understand it though because
she was a woman.
In 1924, Alfred and Georgia fell in love and got married. by Chris |

Georgia loved New York but her favorite place to be
was New Mexico. She loved the nature, especially the mountains. She said
her best work was made in New Mexico. She became an artist when women were
only supposed to teach art. She didn't care what other people thought about
her. She let out her emotions in her paintings and that is why I think
they are beautiful.
