Eastern Illinois University seeks a Vice President for Business Affairs to lead a complex division that includes the following functional areas: business services (accounts payable/receivable and procurement), the Bursar’s Office, student accounts, human resources, payroll, facilities, grounds, risk management, budget, and institutional research. The Vice President will also serve as the Chief Financial Officer for the University and oversee the development of annual budgets, revenue projections, and serve as a liaison to the Board of Trustees’ Finance and Audit Committee. As a member of the President’s Council, the selected candidate will need to be a collaborative leader committed to the unique mission of institutions of higher education. As a state university, the Vice President will need to have a deep understanding of the importance of compliance with state and federal guidelines, regulations, and relevant governing legislation. Additionally, the VP/CFO will work with the Vice President for Advancement to support the finance, budget, and business operations of the EIU Foundation.
The successful candidate for this position will have:
• At least five years senior leadership at the director or assistant/associate vice president level or higher with experience leading one or more of the functional areas in higher education with a preference for individuals with extensive backgrounds in finance, business services, and/or accounting;
• A master’s degree in business, accounting, public administration or another advanced degree in a related field;
• An understanding of and experience with institutional investment strategies and capital projects financing is preferred; and
• A demonstrated commitment to diversity and advancing inclusive excellence through strategic and intentional hiring and employee retention initiatives.
