Traditional Prelicensure BSN Program - Application

The Gail and Richard Lumpkin School of Nursing at Eastern Illinois University accepts a limited number of students each year. Admission is highly competitive and reserved for students who have demonstrated academic excellence and a strong commitment to nursing as their future profession.

The deadline to submit applications is March 1st.

As part of the application, you are required to submit a letter of recommendation. One reference is required, up to 3 may be submitted. The reference can be a teacher, coach, guidance counselor, employer, or any one that can attest to your suitability to pursue and be successful in nursing.

Instructions for Submitting Letters of Recommendation:

2. Your recommender will complete the secure online form.
3. You will not be able to view the contents of the letter, but you may confirm whether it has been received by emailing Mrs. Angi Hallowell at amhallowell@eiu.edu.

To be eligible for admission, the student must meet the following admission requirements:

- Must be a current student at EIU.
- Must have completed, or currently be enrolled in, the following pre-requisite math/science courses: BIO 1004G, BIO 2210, CHM 1040G, MAT 1160G, and NUR 1511.
- Must have completed, or currently be enrolled in, the following pre-requisite nursing courses: CMN 1310G, ENG 1001G, ENG 1002G, HSL 1800 or NTR 2100, NUR 2613, PSY 1879G or SOC 1838G.
