Dr. John L. Roberts Schoalrship in Middle School Education

Description:  Established in 2011, this scholarship was established by Dr. John L. Roberts, originally from Arcola, longtime professor in the College of Business at Eastern Illinois University, and former middle school educator, in order to provide support to students from Coles and surrounding counties studying to become middle school educators. Criteria for selection are as follows: The recipient must be a full-time student, of sophomore or higher standing, majoring in Elementary Education with the Middle School option, and accepted to Eastern Illinois University. Recipient(s) must have graduated from a high school in one of the following counties: Coles, Shelby, Moultrie, Cumberland, Clark, Edgar, or Douglas. The recipient must maintain a GPA of at least 3.0. Financial need is a consideration. The recipient(s) may be eligible to receive the award again provided he/she continues to meet criteria. The award(s) shall be announced in the spring and paid in the fall semester to Eastern Illinois University to be first applied against costs (tuition, fees, housing, etc.) associated with the recipient(s) attending Eastern Illinois University.
