Master of Historical Administration Program Association Joy Matthiessen Memorial Scholarship

Description:  Established in 1992, the HAPA Joy Matthiessen Memorial Scholarship was created in memory of Joy Matthiessen, a Historical Administration (HA) Program graduate. She was a leader in the history field and a strong advocate for the HA program. The scholarship is to provide assistance to a student in the Master of Arts in History Program. Criteria for selection are as follows: The recipient(s) must be a graduate student seeking a degree in the Master of Arts in History at Eastern Illinois University. The award(s) is designated first, for an incoming History graduate student without a funded assistantship. The award(s) second designation shall be for a current unfunded History graduate student. The recipient(s) must have an overall GPA of 3.0. A statement (no more than two pages) shall be included that describes how the recipient will benefit from the scholarship. Financial need is a consideration. The award(s) shall be announced in the Spring or Summer semester and paid in the following Summer, Fall or Spring semester(s) to Eastern Illinois University to be first applied against costs (tuition, fees, housing, etc.) associated with the recipient(s) attending Eastern Illinois University.
