Sue (Archibald) & Randy Taylor Scholarship in Education



Established in 2012, this scholarship was created to provide necessary resources to deserving students at Eastern Illinois University. The Sue (Archibald) & Randy Taylor Scholarship in Education is designed for an undergraduate student with preference being given to a student with experience in agricultural and/or farm activities within Douglas County, Illinois. Criteria for selection are as follows: The recipient(s) must be a full-time student enrolled in the Early Childhood, Elementary & Middle Level Education department and accepted to Eastern Illinois University. Recipient(s) will have graduated high school in Douglas, Coles, or Clark counties in Illinois or Unity High School in Tolono, IL. If no one from the preferred counties and high school meet the criteria, students from surrounding counties may also be eligible. The committee may also consider the following factors: financial need, personal hardship, family considerations (e.g. single parent, several children, special needs, etc.). Preference will be given to recipient(s) with experience in agricultural and/or farm activities within Douglas County, Illinois. Applicants shall submit a letter of application stating career goals within the classroom and education arena as well as past experiences with agricultural and farm activities. The recipient(s) may be eligible to receive the award again provided he/she continues to meet criteria. This award shall be given in multiples of $1,000. The award shall be announced in the spring and paid in the fall to Eastern Illinois University to be first applied against costs (tuition, fees, housing, etc.) associated with the recipient attending Eastern Illinois University.
