Established in 2012, the Paul D. Pierotti Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the late Paul D. Pierotti who attended Eastern Illinois University and who lost his life in an automobile accident in 1998. This scholarship is designed for students pursuing college majors and careers in the Biological Sciences fields. Selected recipient(s) shall be full-time student, majoring in Biological Sciences, accepted to Eastern Illinois University. Recipient(s) shall maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 or higher. The recipient(s) shall plan to pursue natural resource management or another environmentally-related field as a career. Applicants shall submit an essay on an environmental or natural resource topic of up to 500 words on subjects provided by the selection committee. Preference shall be given to applicants whose residence is within Du Page County. If no one within DuPage County meets the criteria, selection may come from contiguous counties. Additional preference for this award shall be provided if the applicant volunteers or is associated with The Conservation Foundation in Northeastern Illinois and/or The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. The award(s) shall be announced in the spring and paid in the fall to Eastern Illinois University to be first applied against costs (tuition, fees, housing, etc.) associated with the recipient(s) attending Eastern Illinois University.
