Established in 2009, the Alumni and Friends of Rugby Scholarship holds the following eligibility criteria: The recipient must be a full-time student, accepted to Eastern Illinois University, and eligible to participate in intercollegiate athletics. A scholarship may also be awarded to a new transfer student, or a currently enrolled student, for the same amount and for duration of their eligible semesters. The recipient will receive an amount of a minimum of $250 each fall and spring up to four years as long as the criteria are met. The recipient must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA. If minimum GPA is not maintained, the recipient must forfeit the scholarship for the upcoming semester, but could be reinstated after a 2.5 GPA is achieved as a full-time student. The recipient must make the Women's Rugby team roster and remain in good standing on the team. If a rugby related injury occurs, the scholarship will remain intact, as long as the student athlete continues to follow rehabilitation as prescribed by the EIU training staff, and that the athlete continues to support/work for the team in some capacity as designated by the coach. Any injury that occurs that was non-sport/rugby related may jeopardize the terms of the award. The award shall be announced in the spring and paid during the following fall and spring semesters in equal installments of a minimum of $250 to Eastern Illinois University to be first applied against costs (tuition, fees, housing, etc.) associated with the recipient(s) attending Eastern Illinois University.
