This scholarship was established to leave a legacy for Dr. James D. Price. Dr. Price received a Bachelor of Science in Business Education in 1974 and a Master of Science degree in education and a specialist in education from Eastern in 1977. He received a Ph.D from Southern Illinois University in 1998 and began his career as a business education teacher and was Associate Superintendent of the Mount Zion School District at the time of his death in 2000. Criteria for selection are as follows: The recipient(s) must be a full-time student, majoring in a program offered by the School of Technology, accepted to Eastern Illinois University. The recipient must be a member in good standing with the Eastern Illinois University Delta Chi Fraternity and must have an overall GPA of 3.0. Financial need may be a consideration, but is not a requirement. If no Delta Chi member qualifies, the criteria may be expanded to include qualifying Phi Beta Lambda members in good standing. The recipient shall be eligible to apply for, and receive, the award again provided she/he continues to meet the criteria stated above. The award shall be announced in the Spring and paid in the Fall Semester to Eastern Illinois University to be first applied against costs (tuition, fees, housing, etc.) associated with the recipient(s) attending Eastern Illinois University.
