Vergil V. Gregg Memorial Scholarship



Established in 2000, this scholarship was created to honor the memory of Vergil V. Gregg who served the Westfield School District from 1949 to 1984, and is remembered as a beloved husband and father and a well-respected friend, mentor, teacher, administrator, co-worker and a member of the community. Criteria for selection are as follows: The recipient must be a full-time student accepted to Eastern Illinois University and must maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 with a 3.0 GPA in his/her major. Preference will be given to Westfield students, then to students in Clark County, and then open to students who are covered by the Regional Office of Education, Region 11 (Counties of Clark, Coles, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Moultrie, and Shelby). Financial need is a consideration. The recipient may be eligible to receive the award again provided he/she continues to meet the stated criteria. The award shall be announced in the Spring and paid in the Fall to Eastern Illinois University to first be applied against costs (tuition, fees, housing, etc.) associated with the recipient attending Eastern Illinois University.
