The recipient must be admitted to the Board of Trustees BA (General Studies)Degree Program and accepted to Eastern Illinois University. The recipient must be a returning adult parent female over the age of 25. The recipient must have had a significant break in education due to life events. It is preferred that the recipient have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours prior to receiving the award. The recipient must have an overall GPA of 2.5 or above prior to receiving the award. The recipient must display a need for financial aid. The recipient must have demonstrated the ability to be successful in completing college level work. The recipient must have evidenced a commitment to completing a baccalaureate degree. Preference will be given to single parent females who would be unable to complete a degree without financial assistance. Preference will be given to recipients coming out of an abusive situation who have a strong desire to improve the quality of life for herself and her children. The recipient shall be eligible to apply for, and receive, the award again provided she continues to meet the criteria stated above. The award shall be awarded in the Spring Semester and paid one half the following Fall Semester and one half the following Spring Semester. The recipient must maintain a minimum enrollment of six (6) hours for each semester that she receives the award.
