The Department of Political Science provides critical knowledge and understanding of politics, governments, and public policies to students and the EIU community. Through classes and applied learning, students gain essential research, writing, communication, and professional skills, preparing them for careers in government and the public sector, nonprofits, legal fields, higher education, and the corporate world. Daniel Banini's Vita

Dr. Banini received a Ph.D. (2021) in Security Studies from the School of Politics, Security & International Affairs, University of Central Florida, an M.A. in Peace Studies from the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, University of Notre Dame, and a B.A. in Political Science.
His research sits at the intersection of comparative politics and international relations, with interests in civil-military relations, environmental security, governance, and conflict processes, having a regional focus on Africa. His works have appeared in African Security and Small Wars & Insurgencies journals.
