What version of Java version is recommended for Banner INB?

Banner INB requires Java 7 to function properly. Java 8 is currently not compatible with BannerINB.

If your computer does not have Java installed, you may download the latest version of Java 7 approved for Banner INB.

If you use any other version of Java, your results may not be as expected.

Other Settings

In addition to using a compatible web browser and having the correct Java installed, you must also configure Java to allow Banner INB to run. This setting is pushed out to most on-campus EIU computers but could require manual configuration.

Windows

  1. Open the Windows Control Panel.
  2. Click on Java (32-bit). You may have to switch from 'Category' view to 'Large icons' or 'Small icons' view. Alternatively, you can search for Java in the top-right corner.
  3. Once the Java Control Panel launches, switch to the Security tab.
  4. Under the section that says Exception Site List, you must have https://bannerinb.eiu.edu:9093 listed. If you do not see an Exception Site List, you have an incompatible version of Java installed.
  5. If the bannerinb.eiu.edu entry is not in the list, click the 'Edit Site List...' button and add it to the list.
  6. You may then close out of the Java Control Panel and Windows Control Panel. Your Java should now be configured to work with Banner INB.
