Office 365 allows you to use the latest version of Microsoft Office on up to 5 personal devices such as Windows computers, Mac computers, or tablets and smartphones.
Office 365 is available at no cost for current students and employees of Eastern Illinois University. Microsoft offers this through a program called "Office 365 Education", an evolution of their previous "Student Advantage" program. ITS will attempt to facilitate its use for as long as Microsoft offers the program. Please note: You will not have access to Microsoft Office 365 after you graduate or leave EIU.
ITS is only able to provide support for Office 365 with downloading and signing in with your EIU credentials to activate the software.
EIU provided computers should already have Microsoft Office installed. Office 365 should not be installed on EIU-owned computers. If an EIU-owned computer needs Office installed or updated, please contact Campus Technology Support at (217)581-4357
Office 365 requires Windows 10 (or newer) or Mac OS Big Sur 11 (or newer). It is not compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 or 8.
To download Microsoft Office 365, current students and employees may follow these steps:
You must uninstall any previous versions of Microsoft Office or trial versions of Office 365 before attempting to install Office 365
