What are the restrictions to attachments in PantherMail?
Attachments may be up to 100MB in size, however attachments may be rejected by other email recipients for being too large. 10MB is a common limitation for email providers while Gmail has a maximum of 25MB.
We do allow .zip files to be sent from campus or received on campus as long as they do not include executable content. (A .zip full of Word documents and PowerPoint files would be fine.)
For security purposes, we do not allow sending attachments of the following file types (including if they are inside .zip files):
- .msi
- .chm
- .vbs
- .scr
- .cmd
- .bat
- .docx.js
- .doc.js
The sender may receive a bounce back message if they try to send one of these files:
'Block Rule – Sorry your mail was blocked because it contained executable content.
