Student Ambassadors
Student Ambassadors are in invaluable group of music student who assist in department recruitment activities and serve as a liaison with prospective students and their parents. Student Ambassadors help to answer questions from prospective students and their parents. Student Ambassadors can expect to volunteer 2-8 hours per month.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with regularly scheduled audition days
- Discuss Department of Music programs and opportunities with prospective students and their parents
- Host prospective students visiting campus
- Provide tours of the Doudna Fine Arts Centers
- Contact prospect via email and/or text messaging
Eligibility and Application Process:
Student Ambassadors are exemplary music students who show strengths in all areas of academics, music performance, and communication skills. To be eligible to be a Student Ambassador, you must be an undergraduate student who has completed 15 credits at Eastern Illinois University and hold a QPA of 3.0 or better. Ambassadors will attend meetings on topics related to new student recruitment. Students interested in becoming a Student Ambassador, should complete the application form by September 16, 2016.
Expectations:
- Treat their job responsibilities as they would at any other job
- Act in a professional and respectful manner while in representing the EIU Department of Music
- Dress appropriately while on duty
- Be on time; stay on time
- Participate in Student Ambassador meetings
- Be knowledgeable of Department of Music programs and events
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and enjoy presenting to large groups
- Brainstorm to help engage prospective and admitted students
