Employment Opportunity -- Program Coordinator—Assistant Director, New Student & Family Programs

The Eastern Illinois University’s Department of New Student and Family Programs is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Program Coordinator - Assistant Director, New Student & Family Programs. This position will be responsible for the coordination of programs that assist new students and their families as they transition to and through the university.  Duties of this position will include:

  • Oversee the implementation of the Orientation Program for freshman and transfer students.
  • Assist in the planning and Implementation of Welcome Weekend and Family Weekend.
  • Manage and assist with the supervision of staff, students, and graduate assistants. Manager the recruitment and selection process of undergraduate staff.  Coordinate training for staff.
  • Responsible for the training of new staff (Office Support Associate, graduate assistants, students).
  • Provide support to initiatives, functions, and programs for New Student and Family Programs.

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Higher Education, College Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field.
  • One year of demonstrated experience working with students in orientations, first-year programs, student life, student success programming, or other related student engagement areas.
  • Working knowledge of orientation, transition and retention best practices and principles.
  • Experience planning and implementing large-scale programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in designing and assessing orientation, transition, and retention programs
  • Proven ability to perform multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience developing publications, marketing, and social media materials.
  • Experience working with a diverse population.
  • Experience supporting at-risk students, increasing student retention, or working with first-generation college students.
  • Ability to make sound decisions, manage risks in complex situations, and provide exceptional customer service to multiple constituents.
  • Experience training and supervising college students.
