EIU MASTER OF SCIENCE IN EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY OR SPORTS ADMINISTRATION

EIU Master of Science in Sports Administration

Students in the Sports Administration degree program take courses in a curriculum modeled after the standards of the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA). The program provides unique opportunities for our students by partnering with local, regional, national, and global sport organizations to provide students with practical experience while enrolled at EIU. Sports Administration students have the opportunity for advanced discovery through guided research with faculty mentors in the areas of sport management, sport marketing, sport economics, sport history, philosophy of sport, sport sociology, and sport psychology. The program provides students with an existing professional network in collegiate athletics, professional sport, health and fitness, and recreation. Assistantships are available with EIU Athletics and the EIU Student Recreation Center.

There are three prerequisite courses necessary for admission into the Sports Administration program. These courses may be taken during the first semester of your graduate program or can be taken prior to application. The three courses are:

KSS 4760 - Sport Law (or an equivalent legal aspects course)

KSS 4764 - Sport Management Principles (or equivalent management course)

KSS 4765 - Marketing in Sport (or equivalent marketing course)

Please consult the graduate coordinator if you have questions regarding the prerequisites for the Sports Administration program.
