EIU Department of Kinesiology and Sports Studies

KSS Student Ambassador Program

Student Ambassadors are undergraduate students who represent the Kinesiology & Sports Studies department in a variety of on and off-campus recruitment and retention efforts. Selected Ambassadors are expected to participate in the program for two full semesters. Under the guidance of the department chair, Ambassadors have the opportunity to participate in EIU open house events, college visit days and regional university recruitment fairs. KSS Club (Sport Management Club)

The KSS Club is a registered student organization open to all students in the major concentration areas of: Exercise Science, Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE), and Sports Management.  The club meets 3 times during the fall and spring semesters.  The club has professional meetings as well as social events.  Each major concentration area may meet more times per semester as determined by each of the separate groups. Robert Clark, EIU Sport Management Alumni who works in ticket sales for the Milwaukee Brewers will be on campus on Monday, September 18th at noon.  Come hear him speak in Lantz 3401.  


At Eastern Illinois University, we believe not only in the classroom curriculum but also through learning through an experiential environment in sport management. As part of the sport management program, all students will be required to fulfill an internship, which may vary on credit requirement. Students can choose an internship site that would add to their educational experience. Please visit our internship page.


There are a variety of different organizations that students may join as Sport Management student and Professional. Being a part of professional organizations is not only important to advance your education, but also to increase networking opportunities.

North American Society for Sport Management


NASSM is actively involved in supporting and assisting professionals working in the fields of sport, leisure and recreation. The purpose of the North American Society for Sport Management is to promote, stimulate, and encourage study, research, scholarly writing, and professional development in the area of sport management - both theoretical and applied aspects. Topics of interest to NASSM members include sport marketing, future directions in management, employment perspectives, management competencies, leadership, sport and the law, personnel management, facility management, organizational structures, fund raising, and conflict resolution.


As a student within the Kinesiology and Sport Studies Department, you are eligible for a number of Sport Management specific scholarships at Eastern Illinois University. The application period is in early Spring of each year. Scholarships are awarded each year at the Annual Awards Banquet in April. Every year the Kinesiology and Sport Studies Department awards more than 14 scholarships to our wonderful students. For more information please click the following link 

Academic Advising

Students in the Department of Kinesiology and Sports Studies should meet with their academic advisor each semester.  This provides guidance in selecting the courses required toward graduation and is how you obtain your alternate pin number to be eligible to register.  Academic advisors are:
