Tree Surgeon

Eastern Illinois University is seeking candidates for a full-time Civil Service position of Tree Surgeon in the Department of Facilities, Planning, and Management/Grounds.  Responsibilities include:

• Tree maintenance, utilizing current industry standards including trimming, feeding, spraying, cabling, and injection of trees.
• Climbing trees using climbing techniques and specialized equipment to access work areas.
• Tree removals.
• Inspects trees and shrubs for insects and diseases and provides the necessary treatment.
• Pest diagnosis & IPM; inventory.
• Pruning and transplant tree and shrubs.
• Equipment maintenance.
• Remove ice and snow from sidewalks, steps and ramps.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

• Three (3) years (36 months) of work experience in a professional environment or a nursery involving the maintenance of trees, shrubs, and gardens.
• One (1) year (12 months) of work experience in a professional environment or a nursery involving significant responsibility with the maintenance of trees, shrubs, and gardens.

Salary: $24.95/hr
