The EIU Department of Teaching, Learning and Foundations seeks a non-tenure track faculty member (grades 6-12) to teach courses such as instructional strategies for the middle level and secondary classroom; diverse contexts that influence the learning process; reading and literacy; and assessing student learning. Teaching assignments may include undergraduate and/or graduate courses using a variety of delivery formats (online, face-to-face, off campus, or blended). For courses with program required field experiences, candidates will be expected to supervise and evaluate students within their field placements and serve to maintain mutually beneficial relationships with public school partners.

Additionally, successful candidates will be committed to the department mission of providing current and future educators with knowledge, skills, and dispositions to meet the challenges of today’s classroom. To do so means that candidates must demonstrate current knowledge of instructional assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation pedagogy as well as the current trends and issues impacting education. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of evidence- based literacy instruction and strategies for supporting students in reading, writing, and content area classes. Candidates must demonstrate and ability to work collegially with other members of the faculty; engage in cross-disciplinary collaboration; and effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
