The area around Eastern Illinois has many places that students and locals love. We asked our graduate students to share some of their favorite locations.
Jackson Avenue Coffee: "There's always something going on at the Jac, and many of their events raise money to benefit the local and student community. It's also just a really eclectic, interesting place to work on homework, relax, or enjoy some great coffee. "
-Becky, Weller Hall
County Market: "County Market is by far my favorite place to study! It's never too busy, has free wi-fi, large tables to work on & it's always quiet. I love it!"
-Tori, Facilities & Residential Life
Los Potrillos have the best customer service in town and a lot of room to sit and talk for a while. They have good prices, too!
-Josie, Douglas Hall
Lincoln Garden is a good place to have brunch or an early morning hangout. They have a good variety of diner eats and endless coffee!
-Nora, University Court
Fox Ridge: "As someone who loves the outdoors, it's so nice to be able to drive a few miles away and feel like you are in a forest! I love going during the fall when all of the leaves are changing and going for a hike."
-Hayley Hanger, University Court
Charleston Lake: "The lake is a great place to disconnect from campus and get into nature. I always find comfort and feel reenergized when I hike the lake."
