Homecoming RSO Spirit Competition
Timeline:
1. Friday, October 2nd - Applications close
2. Monday, October 5th – Official Competition Points Finalized & Announced
3. Monday, October 12th - Spirit Competition Begins
4. Thursday, October 22nd - Spirit Competition Ends
5. Friday, October 23rd - Winners Announced at Homecoming Pep Rally @O’Brien Stadium
Eligibility & Participation
• The competition is open to ALL currently Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) in good standing at Eastern Illinois University.
• Each organization must designate one primary representative being RSO president – other executive board member who will serve as their point of contact for Homecoming; and list their advisor(s) as well.
• Organizations must be registered for the competition by October 2nd to be eligible for points.
• All participants must be current EIU students and active members of their organization(s).
• Organizations are responsible for keeping track of all forms, deadlines, and submission requirements for spirit competitions.
• Participants must follow all EIU policies, conduct themselves in a respectful manner, and practice good sportsmanship.
• Organizations are responsible for the behavior of their participating members, anyone acting inappropriately or attempting to intimidate others, will be disqualified (possibly the entire RSO / Collaborative Group).
• Participants may only represent ONE RSO that they are an active member of per event. Individuals will not be counted twice.
• An organization may participate independently or collaborate with other eligible RSOs (Greeks); collaboration will count as one joint entry, and if they place, share only 1 prize.

Collaboration Stipulations
• Only ONE application must be submitted for your collaborative group. ALL organizations affiliated with the group must be listed in the form to be accounted for.
• Each organization in the collaboration should have a representative listed, along with their respective advisor.
• The prize will not be split or multiplied. It is a FLAT prize.

General Rules & Regulations
• Must be a registered student organization (RSO) at Eastern Illinois University & submit the Spirit Competition application by Friday, October 2nd
• To receive points for social media challenges, all participation posts must be made using your RSOs official social media handle on Instagram, feature the official Homecoming hashtag #PantherPrideShowdown and tag Homecoming’s official Instagram @eiu_homecoming.
• Size of RSO will not be a primary factor for point allocation; it is won mostly by participation and Panther Pride. While attendance points are available, they are capped at points for 5 members.
• Participating RSOs are expected to be present at most if not all homecoming events, as it is one of the primary ways to win points.

1st place:
$250 sponsored by Homecoming for an RSO-related event or activity, the Traveling Trophy, & 1st place Homecoming 2026 Plaque.
2nd place:
$150 sponsored by Homecoming for an RSO-related event or activity & 2nd place Homecoming 2026 Plaque.
3rd place:
$100 sponsored by Homecoming for an RSO-related event or activity & 2nd place Homecoming 2026 Plaque.
