In addition to General Education and history courses, students in the History with Teacher Licensure in Social Science major take a core of social studies courses in anthropology-sociology, economics, geography, political science, and psychology -- all of the subjects which you will be licensed to teach at the high school level. Additionally, all majors complete a professional education sequence that includes two methods courses, SOS 2400 and SOS 3400, where you will be with other secondary social studies majors. The professional education sequence culminates in a practicum experience of 75 hours in a central Illinois classroom followed by a semester of student teaching, in central Illinois, Chicago, elsewhere in the state, or even abroad!
