GSAC 2022 Scholarship

Applicants must be a graduate student in a degree-seeking program at EIU and in good standing with the Graduate School and the graduate program. Financial need is not a consideration. The selection committee will be comprised of the GSAC Faculty Advisor, Graduate School advisor and the GSAC executive committee. Anonymous applications will be submitted to the committee to ensure fairness in the selection process. Applicants will be unable to serve on the selection committee.

The awardees will be featured in the "Graduate Scholar- Journal of Scholarship and Recognition".

Deadline: 4:30 p.m. on March 4th, 2022.

The application requires an essay component. In 500 words or fewer, please reflect upon any challenges you have faced and how you overcame them with regards to building community during your graduate school experience during the pandemic. You may respond to this prompt generally or refer to these questions:
1) How has your sense of graduate community changed in the pandemic?
2) In your opinion, how important has community been while in graduate school?
3) What have you done to build community during your graduate studies, either in your department, on campus, or in the local community?

Be sure to include specific examples to demonstrate your engagement in and your influence on EIU's graduate life. Because this is a scholarship from a graduate student organization, please focus on your graduate involvement, rather than undergraduate involvement.
